Viola Hassing, 87, Wells

Viola Margaret Hassing age 87, of Wells, died peacefully on Sat. Oct. 21, 2006, at Parkview Care Center in Wells, where she had resided since April of 2004. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells with the Rev. Eugene Stenzel officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday with Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells.
Viola and her twin sister Violet were born on Feb. 20, 1919, in Brush Creek Township, Faribault County, the daughters of Eli and Meta (Quade) Beckmann. She married Hilary Hassing on March 15, 1940, in Wells.
She was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, the C.C.W., Rosary Society and the Wells V.F.W. Auxiliary. She had worked for many years at Mallon Produce and the Wells Nutrition site retiring in 1996. She was always willing to help others and shared her beautiful smile and winked her pretty blue eyes at many while living the past 2 1/2 years at Parkview Care Center.
She enjoyed her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. Blessed be our loving mother&8217;s memory.
She is survived by five children: Richard and Yoko Hassing of Indianapolis, Ind., Karen and Pat Cory of Wells, Gene and Pat Hassing of Wells, Marlene and Mike Wegner of Wells, Terry and Vicki Hassing of Brooklyn Park; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren: Amy and David Pankoke, Alex and Maleah, Andy Hassing, Beth and Mike Jongbloedt and Ben, Brent and JeNean Cory, Ashlyn and Logan, Kelly and Steve Aguiar, Tristin and Karley, Chris and Sigita Hassing, Abby and Travis Roberts, Alexis, Paige and McKenzie, Tim Hassing, Mara Hassing, Eric and Shannon Wegner, Colin, Carson and Molly, Michelle Wegner and her daughter Emily Mandler, Ryan and Amy Wegner, Shannon Hassing, Luke Hassing, Sam Hassing; one sister: Marvel Kaiser of Wells, four brothers: Harold Beckmann and Gerald Beckmann of Wells, Herb and Doris Beckmann of New Richland and Manny and Pat Beckmann of Waseca; sister-in-law: Dorothy Beckmann of St. James; brother-in-law: Clarence Hartman of St. Charles; sister-in-law: Irene and Ing Jensen of Mankato; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hilary in 1970, her twin sister Violet Bohm, sisters Helen Albers, Lois Hartman; brothers: Gus, Norman, Clarence and Orville Beckmann.
