Barbara Jean Eckstrom, 64, of Marion, Iowa, died Dec. 15, 2006, in Albert Lea following a long illness.

Services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Steve Irwin of River of Life Church officiated. Friends called Monday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Entombment was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include sons Dr. Michael Eckstrom (Nicole) of Albert Lea and Maj. Daniel Eckstrom (Corie) of Maryville, Ill.; and five grandchildren Francesca, Alexandra, Dominica, Tommy and Amy.

Also surviving are sisters Mary Lou (Johnny) Montes and Margaret (Jim) Heinson, and brothers John DeVeney and Gene DeVeney.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas Eckstrom on March 12, 2006; parents William and Lucille DeVeney; sister Lucille; and brother Tom.

Barbara Jean Eckstrom was born Sept. 17, 1942, in Omaha, Neb., the beloved daughter of William and Lucille DeVeney.

She married Thomas Eckstrom on April 24, 1965 in Omaha.

She was a member of Western Fraternal Lodge #423 and River of Life Church.

Memorial donations may be made in Barbara&8217;s honor to the American Cancer Society or the Scleroderma Foundation.
