Dorothy Evenson, 87, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Dorothy M. Evenson will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea.

The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate.

Burial will be in LeSueur River Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before the service at the church.

Dorothy died on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea.

She was 87 years old.

Dorothy was born in Gaylord, Mich., on Oct. 13, 1919, the daughter of Floyd and Frances (Libcke) Lake.

She was a graduate of Gaylord High School, attended Michigan State, and attended cosmetology school.

On Dec. 12, 1943, Dorothy was united in marriage with Stuart Evenson in Battle Creek, Mich. They moved to Alden in 1952 and then to Albert Lea in 1953.

They are members of First

Lutheran Church where Dorothy was active in Circle #1.

Dorothy had worked in the cafeteria at Sibley School for 13 years.

She had served as president of the Legion Auxiliary and she and Stuart had attended several American Legion Conventions.

She had also been a volunteer with the Freeborn County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Dorothy enjoyed playing Bridge, cooking, sewing, counted cross stitch, and fishing with her family at Happy Days Resort in Nevis and St. Olaf Lake.

Her family was very important to her and she spent many happy hours babysitting her grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Stuart; four children:

Bill (Evonne) Evenson of Buffalo, Paul (Marly) Evenson of Albert Lea, Gail (Jerry) Rasmussen of Albert Lea, Karen (Walt) Eisen of Faribault; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters-in-law:

Mary Lou Lake of Seattle, Wash., Ossie and Marj Evenson of Albert Lea, Helen Mork of Albert Lea, Robert and Lenore Johnson of Shakopee, and Richard and Lois Wasmoen of Albert Lea; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers.
