Editorial: Thanks to United Way volunteers

It takes a lot of dedication to volunteer to lead the fall campaign for the United Way of Freeborn County. Time, speaking skills, coordination and phone calls are just the tip of the iceberg for the chairmen and chairwomen of the annual fund drives. They agree to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars all to benefit social services in Freeborn County.

That is honorable.

And we know the mother-daughter team of Karol Held and Angie Eggum will do well. They seem to approach the roles with enthusiasm. Be sure to thank them for volunteering when you see them in the community.

We also want to thank Phil and Mary Bartusek for doing a great job with the United Way campaign that ended in December. Service to the community forges a better future for everyone.

We know many people in Freeborn County donated their time, money and resources to United Way campaigns this year, last year and in previous years. We hope you continue to pitch in during coming campaigns.
