Lake Mills, NC/NK combine to advance 8

Both the NC/NK and Lake Mills wrestling teams advanced four wrestlers onto district competition Saturday.

A wrestler had to finish in the top

two of his weight class in sections to advance to this weekend&8217;s district meet where state berths will be determined.

NC/NK finished fifth in its district won by powerful Osage.

Advancing for NC/NK were Eric Horstman at 112, Zach Wills at 140, Michael Bachtle at 160 and heavyweight John Coyle. All four wrestlers were runners-up in their weight class.

For Coyle, it was his first loss of the season in the finals falling to No. 1-ranked Blake Rasing of New Hampton.

Lake Mills finished sixth as a team.

The Bulldogs were led by Wade Hebrink who was the champion at 125 out of the Garner-Hayfield section.

He will be joined by Junior Gallardo who was the runner-up at 112, Stephan Schwartz was the runner-up at 135 and Peter Brekken was the runner-up at 152.

Hebrink improved his record to 30-2 on the season while Schwartz fell to an undefeated wrestler in the finals and sits at 28-7.
