Mildred Marsh, 91, Albert Lea

Mildred A. Marsh, age 91, of Albert Lea, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center where was a resident for the last five years. Her ashes will be interred in the Alden Cemetery with her husband at a later date. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mildred Marsh was born on March 28, 1915, in Freeborn County, the daughter of Andrew and Minnie (Reim) Larson. She grew up near Conger and graduated from Alden High School in 1932. On Feb. 14, 1933, Mildred was united in marriage to Howard E. Marsh in Northwood, Iowa. She and Howard lived in Albert Lea, Austin, Rochester, and Manhattan Beach. In later years, Mildred moved to Walnut Creek, Calif., living there for 13 years. During the 1950s and 60s in Austin, Mildred and her husband owned Marsh Quality Built Homes. She enjoyed dancing, playing bridge, and painting, especially landscapes.

Survivors include her daughter Joan Turner of San Ramon, Calif.; grandchildren Howard Marsh of Franklin, Ky., Kim Marsh of Chicago, Ill., Courtney Chapin of Washington, D.C., and Christopher Marsh of Chicago; great-grandchildren Bill and Sam Coffee of Chicago and Jeremiah and Grace Chapin of Washington D.C.; and three nieces and a nephew.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard Marsh in 1975, her son Jerry Marsh in 2004, her sisters Vera Tiede and Charlotte Schmidthuber, and her brothers Woodrow and Garwood Larson.
