WINONA &8212; Glenville-Emmons senior Ashley Lau concluded her varsity career Monday night scoring seven points to reach 1,000 against Hope Lutheran in a 52-37 Wolverine win in a makeup game.

Lau became the first G-E girls&8217; basketball player to reach the milestone in 10 years. She also joins Jarrad Knutson &8212; who scored his 1,000th point for the boys&8217; team earlier this season &8212; as the only two players to reach the mark in the same season.

Lau entered the season 410 points short of 1,000 and reached the milestone on a 3-pointer with 6:30 gone in the first half. She is just the third girls&8217; player to amass 1,000 points for the school.

Lau was taken out of the game after making the shot off an inbounds play and did not re-enter the game.

Lau&8217;s feat was made even more impressive given the fact that she played only three years at the varsity level.

The Glenville-Emmons&8217; B-squad played much of the rest of the game.

Kalli VanRyswyk led G-E with 14 points and Danielle Cooper added eight points.
