Spc. Ryan Sabinish, son of Dick and Carolyn Sabinish, both of Albert Lea, was wounded in Iraq on Thursday.
Sabinish, 25, was a machine gunner on a Humvee patrolling in the Baghdad area. He was wounded in the right arm by shrapnel from an improvised explosive device. He told his father the driver of the Humvee was also wounded in the same attack.
The soldier has been a member of the Minnesota National Guard for three and a half years. He started with the Austin unit and transferred later to a St. Cloud unit, which left for training in Mississippi in February 2006, then was assigned to Iraq.
According to his father, the specialist is presently assigned to the Army&8217;s 101st Airborne Division and may be going to Germany for more treatment of his wounded arm.
