Panther girls edge USC at Triton tourney

DODGE CENTER &8212; The New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva girls&8217; golf team finished fifth at the Triton Golf Tournament Tuesday while the United South Central girls were sixth.

NRHEG shot a 435 as a team while the Rebels shot a 438. Byron won the tournament with a 376.

Mariah Tappe led the Panthers with a round of 92 placing her second overall.

&8220;That was Mariah&8217;s career low for 18 holes,&8221; NRHEG head coach Xan Johnson said.

Shelby Whitcomb shot a 107, Brittni Wangsness added a 113 and Paige Sorenson had a 123.

Jessica Schultz rounded out the varsity with with a 125.

The Rebels were paced by Jessica Stensrud who had the fourth best round on the day with a 94.

Kirsten Amberg added a 100, Erinn Hotzler shot 119 and Christi Johnson fired a 125. Genna Anderson carded a 133 for the Rebels.

On the boys&8217; side, USC finished fifth out of eight teams led by Alex Pederson&8217;s 84 which was the seventh best round of the day.

Jarod Ludemann shot 90, Sam Gackstetter carded a 92 and Jeff Hassing rounded out the top four with a 93.
