Clifford Amundson, 93, Wells

Clifford Theodore Amundson, age 93, of Wells, died Monday, June 18, 2007, at United Hospital in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells.

The Rev. Gerald Giese will officiate Visitation will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.

Clifford T. Amundson was born Aug. 24, 1913, the son of Sam and Elsie (Twait) Amundson in rural Blue Earth. He was baptized Nov. 2, 1913, at Blue Earth City Evangelical Lutheran Church, and confirmed July 31, 1927, at Dell Lutheran Church, rural Frost. Clifford went to country school for eight years and enjoyed school, where his favorite subject was arithmetic. He married Loretta Wendt on Oct. 27, 1937.

He is survived by two sons, Lloyd and his wife LeAnn Amundson of Wells, and Gordon and his wife Bonnie Amundson of Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren: Blane and wife Kerry Amundson of Waldorf, Shalaine and husband Rod Olson of Winnebago, Leshaine and husband Curt Sonnek of Easton, Corrine and husband John Melkus of Mesa, Ariz., and Brandon Amundson of Los Angeles, Calif.; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Esther Spencer of Omaha, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta in 1998; and four brothers, Omer, Jesse, Gaylord and Sidney.
