Sheila Christine Johnson was born in Oakland Township on Jan. 8, 1912, to Charles and Ella Knudson.

She attended country school and then Austin High School, graduating in 1930. In 1931, Sheila graduated from Austin Teacher&8217;s Training School. She taught school in District No. 34 for two years and then District #36 for three years. On June 7, 1936, Sheila was married to Oscar Johnson at Hayward Lutheran Church with the Rev. Together, Sheila and Oscar farmed in Freeborn County until 1967, when they moved to northern Minnesota. They farmed there until retiring in 1974 and moving to Albert Lea. Sheila was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, its Ladies Society, Mission Circle and the quilting group. She dearly loved her family and liked nothing better than to have them all come home on holidays and stop in whenever they could.
