Sue Gill, 81, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Sue Gill, 81, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Christ Episcopal Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Jim Young will officiate, assisted by Jake Loper. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea.

&8220;Sue&8221; was born in Albert Lea on June 3, 1926, the daughter of the late Garrett and Rita Folken. Sue graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1944, and continued her education at Ward Belmont in Nashville, Tenn., for two years. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1949 with a bachelor of science degree in education. While attending the University of Minnesota, she was introduced to her husband, Ted, by her sorority sister Pat, who is Ted&8217;s sister. Sue married Ted in 1949 at Christ Episcopal Church in Albert Lea. Following their marriage they resided in Minneapolis until 1955, during which time she worked in the Social Science Department of the University of Minnesota. They later moved to Albert Lea and raised their family.

Sue dearly loved her family (including her pets) and many friends. She cherished time at the cabin in Outing and all the lake activities. She enjoyed walks in the woods to appreciate nature, bird watching, fishing, hunting, knitting and needlepoint. Being an active member of Christ Episcopal Church was also a very important part of Sue&8217;s life.

She peacefully passed away on Monday, July 23, 2007, in the midst of family and wonderful caregivers at Oak Park Place, after a 15-year struggle with Alzheimer&8217;s.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Theodore Gill of Albert Lea; daughter, Anne and her husband David Bonnerup of Albert Lea; son, Peter Gill and his wife Suzanne of Eden Prairie; grandchildren, Jake Bonnerup of Minneapolis and his girlfriend Heidi Lellman, Sarah and her husband Dan Judd and their daughter Maggie of Madison, S.D., Kristen Gill of St. Louis Park and her fianc/ Dan Forseth, Brian Gill and Eric Gill both of Eden Prairie; sister-in-law, Patricia Koenecke of California; and cousin, Charlotte Edman of Seattle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, John.
