Don E. Johnson, 88, of Albert Lea, formerly of Delavan, died Thursday, August 23, 2007, at St. Mary&8217;s Hospital, Rochester.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton, with the Rev. Eugene Stenzel officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Easton. Visitation time will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
He was born May 6, 1919, in Kiester Township, the son of Corold B. & Wilma M. (Baker) Johnson.
On Sept. 4, 1941 he married Marie Mildred O&8217;Leary at Easton. Don farmed all of his life and drove school bus for the Delavan Public School. Mrs. Johnson preceded him in death in 2003. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Don enjoyed playing cards and loved training, showing, and driving Norwegian Fjord horses.
He is survived by his daughters: Cleone (Bruce) Benson, Westby, Wis.; Kathy Waltermire, Marshalltown, Iowa; Mary Alyce (Loren) Grasdalen, Albert Lea; Beverly (David) Schreiber, Columbus, Neb.; Marilyn (Richard) Lowery, Omaha, Neb.; Son John Colin (Barbara) Johnson, Stillwater; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters: Carol Petersen, Albert Lea; Peggy (Melvin) Bangert, Albert Lea; Anita (Claude) Seigler, Mankato; brothers: Gordon (Joyce) Johnson, Clarksburg, W. Va.; Richard (Marilyn) Johnson, Stewartville.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, one daughter (Janet Carol), one son in law and one brother in infancy.
