Harold Kabe, 91, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Harold V. Kabe, 91, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Joel Vano will officiate. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, in rural Blue Earth. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.

Harold died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at Thornecrest Retirement Center.

Harold Victor Kabe was born on May 8, 1916, to Herman and Emma (Weise) Kabe in Faribault County. He attended country school in rural Faribault County. Harold married ElVera V. Martin on Nov. 9, 1938, at St. Paul&8217;s Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. The couple made their home in the Blue Earth area where Harold farmed until 1951. From then until retiring in 1979, they farmed near Freeborn. Harold and ElVera moved back to Blue Earth 1992, and came back to be a resident of Albert Lea in 2001. Harold was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Albert Lea where he served on church boards in various capacities thorough the years. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife ElVera; sons, Galen (Bonnie) of St. Joseph, and Joel (Susan) of Marietta, Ga.; daughters, Andrea (Eugene) Thompson of Alden, and Kristin (Richard) Geiger of Apache Junction, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jason (Julie) Kabe of Buffalo, Jody (Lynn) Knopp of St. Joseph, Bryan Kabe of Tetonia, Idaho, Emily (Erik) Jarkins of Marietta, Ga., Michael (Karla) Thompson of Albert Lea, Ross Thompson of Apple Valley, and Anissa (Kirk) Johnson of Clarks Grove; and 11 great grandchildren.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Marlis in infancy; brothers William, Art, Rudy, Everett and Albert; and sisters, Lena, Lillian and Alma.
