Janet Mershon, 70, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Janet Mershon of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ascension Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Mark Boorsma will officiate. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Albert Lea.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before service at the church.
Janet died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at her home in Albert Lea.
She was 70 years old.
Janet was born in Mason City, Iowa, on August 11, 1937, the daughter of Ayna and Catherine (Rafferty) Olsen. She graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1955.
Janet was married to Richard P. Mershon on January 3, 1960, in Lake Mills, Iowa.
She has been a resident of Albert Lea since high school.
Janet was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, also an officer in WELCA, was in a serving group and helped with the making of many quilts. She had worked at Wilson & Co., Universal Cooperative, and the past 25 years was supervisor of Freeborn Co. Human Services. In her spare time Janet loved to make dolls and enjoyed sewing.
Janet is survived by her husband, Richard (Red) Mershon; children: Lori (Ray) Willaert of St. Peter, Rick (Jodi) Mershon of Red Wing; grandchildren: Nicole, Casey Willaert and Jack Mershon; sisters: Jean (Warren) Moe of Urbandale, Iowa, Karen Olsen of Albert Lea, and Nancy (Art) Schulz of Forest City, Iowa; sisters-in-law: Donna Mershon of Wells, Marlene Oldenberg of Austin and Joyce (LeRoy) Larson of Kiester; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents: Ayna and Catherine Olsen; grandson Richard Mershon; sisters: Betty Olsen and Verna (Paul) Stumo; infant brothers: Jack and Robert Olsen; father and mother-in-law, Paul (Rose) Mershon; and brothers-in-law, Charles and Robert Mershon.
