Julia J. Skaff

Julia J. Skaff, 92, of Albert Lea, died on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007 at Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea.

The funeral service for Julia will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at Salem Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. Pastor Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, with a Trisagion Service at 7 p.m. officiated by V. Rev. Thomas Begley, of St. George Orthodox Church, St. Paul. Visitation will also be one hour before the service at the church.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1915, in Thompson, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Peggy (Haddy) Kamas.

Julia married Eli Skaff in October of 1932, in Alden.

An Albert Lea area resident most of her life, she worked at Wilson & Co. for more than 30 years and later Good Samaritan. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

Julia was active in many community activities including being a member of the Odd Fellows, Rebekas and the Eagles.

She loved knitting and crocheting and will be remembered for her cooking, her specialty being Arabic food. She enjoyed traveling, especially in Europe, and a treasured memory was her 2000 trip to the Middle East with four generations of family.

Julia is survived by daughter Marlene Beyrooty of Valencia, Calif.; grandchildren: Kathleen and her husband Donie Inis of El Cajon, Calif., Steven Beyrooty and his wife Lisa of Newport Beach, Calif., Leslie and her husband John Georggin of San Diego, Tamara and her husband Donny Saatzer of Valencia, Calif., Stephanie and her husband Jerry Botoglou of Valencia, Calif., 13 great-grandchildren: Brandon, Michele, Alexander, Nicholas, Christopher, Brooke, Matthew, Travis, Kelsey, Veronica, Stephen, Joshua and Julia; sisters: Lucille Frazier, Helen Kamas, Darlyne Dibs; brothers: George and Jerome Kamas, several nieces, nephews, and numerous god-children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eli Skaff, son LeMoine Skaff, son-in-law Ronald Beyrooty, sisters: Adele Shalhoob and Dorothy Kamas; brothers: Michael Kamas, Edward Kamas, Louis Kamas and Eugene Kamas.

She will be in our hearts forever and we will miss our special &8220;Nana.&8221;
