Carl Dobberstein, 75, New Richland

The funeral service for Carl R. Dobberstein of rural New Richland will be 11 a.m. on Saturday at the First Lutheran Church of Waldorf. The Rev. Michael Mathews will officiate. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, Waldorf. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland, and one hour before the service at the church.

Carl died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at the New Richland Care Center. He was 75 years old.

Carl was born Dec. 9, 1932, in Byron Township, Waseca County, to Henry G. and Tillie (Stenson) Dobberstein. Carl was baptized on Dec. 19, 1932, and Confirmed April 14, 1946. He graduated from Waldorf High School in 1950. Carl married Darlene Mehus on June 9, 1956, at First Lutheran Church, Glenville. In August 1956, Carl entered the United States Army and spent most of his time in Germany. Carl began farming on his own in May 1958 on the home farm and farmed his entire life. His heart was always on the farm. He enjoyed building new buildings on the farm and working the land. He also enjoyed going to auctions.

Carl is survived by his wife, Darlene; four children: Debra Hebel and her husband Edward of Owatonna, Donald Dobberstein and his wife Madonna of Waseca, Dean Dobberstein of Waldorf and Diane Fette and her husband David of Waseca; grandchildren: Dustin Hebel, Mark Dobberstein, Jenny Dobberstein, Amy Dobberstein and Anthony Fette; great-grandson, Logan Hebel; sisters:

Viola Henkensiefken of Waseca and Donna Bechthold of Eden Prairie; and many nieces and nephews.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Tillie Dobberstein;

grandson, Brian Dobberstein; and brother-in-law, Emerson Henkensiefken.
