Harland Thompson, 94, of Glenville

Celebration of Life for Harland Tennet Thompson, 94, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, Glenville. The Rev. Gail Klavetter will officiate. A private interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Harland died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Good Samaritan Center surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.

Harland Tennet Thompson was born on Nov. 12, 1913, to Edin and Ida (Kravig) Thompson in Emmons. Harland was a lifelong resident of Glenville, baptized and confirmed and life member of Glenville First Lutheran Church. Harland went to school in District 65 graduating from the eighth grade. He married Gladys Troe on Sept. 22, 1935, at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church in Carpenter, Iowa. Gladys passed away Sept. 24, 1978. He then later married Margaret Pump in November of 1982. She passed away November of 1984. Harland farmed in rural Glenville his entire life. He served on the school board at Riverside School, the church council and the creamery board. He also belonged to the Eagles Club and Glenville Senior Citizens Club. Harland enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, playing cards and dancing to the Blue Banners and Full House. Harland loved spending time with family and friends, telling stories of the adventures of his life with a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye and a cup of coffee in hand.

Survivors include his son Marvin (Mary Ann) Thompson of Glenville, grandchildren, Mark (Jackie) Thompson, Mary Thompson, and Monty (Todd) Thoms; great-grandchildren, Dylan (Nicole) Thompson, Cole Thompson, Grayden Thompson, Brady (Jody) Boyd, Jonathan Boyd, Somer (Phil) Marshall, Justin Uchytil, Christopher and Jason Lee, Tabitha (Eric) Page, Trenton Thoms; great-great grandchildren, Ruby Page, Gavin and Zachary Thompson, Isabella and Alyana Boyd, Koal, Kayne and Jack Marshall, Maysen Boyd; brother, Kenneth (Judy) Thompson; sister-in-law, Ruth Thompson; a niece and many nephews.

Harland was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gladys; wife Margaret; brothers, Maynard and Ellard Thompson.
