USC 60, Medford 47

MEDFORD &8212; The United South Central boys&8217; basketball team made it five wins in a row with a 60-47 win over Medford Friday night on the road.

The Rebels held just a six point advantage at the half, 32-26, but used its bulk under the basket to control the boards in the second half to get the win.

Senior captain Tom Eilertson&8217;s play was huge for the Rebels as he collected a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards while Jake Sonnek chipped in with 14 points and nine rebounds.

&8220;We had pretty good control of the game tonight,&8221; said Rebels head coach Rob Stevermer. &8220;We did an excellent job on the boards and that allowed us to control the game.&8221;

After starting the year at 1-5 the Rebels now stand at 7-8 overall and are right in the mix of things in the Gopher Conference with a 6-3 mark. USC will host St. Peter Monday night in Wells.
