Dr. Della Simmons elected to the Minnesota Optometric Association Board of Trustees

Della Simmons, O.D., has been elected as a member of the Minnesota Optometric Association (MOA) Board of Trustees at the association&8217;s annual meeting.

Simmons joined the Albert Lea Eye Clinic in 1999 as a primary care optometrist with an emphasis in pediatrics. The Clinic is part of the Mayo Health System, and Simmons also practices with past MOA president, Craig McCormick, O.D.; Eric Youlden, O.D.; Leonid Skorin, D.O.; and Mel Clark, M.D.

Simmons will serve in the capacity of secretary of the MOA Board of Trustees, and she is also active on the children&8217;s vision committee. She has been a MOA volunteer, participating in such outreach activities as the MOA booth at the HealthFair 11 Building, Minnesota State Fair.

Simmons graduated from the Indiana University School of Optometry in 1994. She lives in Albert Lea with her husband, Mike, a sports reporter with the Albert Lea Tribune. Their children are Tara, age 24, and Justin, age 19.

The Minnesota Optometric Association has about 500 member doctors of optometry around the state. The MOA is committed to furthering awareness of optometrists as primary eye care or family eye doctors and to bringing about change that positively impacts the MOA member doctors and their patients.
