G-E gets big win over LeRoy

LEROY &8212; The Glenville-Emmons boys&8217; basketball team went on the road and picked up a big win over LeRoy-Ostander 67-62 Friday night.

The Wolverines led by one, 34-33, at the break before stretching the advantage to nine with four minutes to go.

LeRoy (9-12, 7-8) would make a run and cut the lead to just two with 40 seconds left, but Jon Mittag had the answers for G-E.

Mittag went 4-for-4 at the free throw line in the final 40 seconds to seal the win. He finished the game with 22 points, seven rebounds and hit his first three 3-pointers.

Michael Adams also hit three 3-pointers finishing the game with 15 points Garrett Schumaker added 12 and Jake Kirsch had seven.

Perhaps the biggest key for the Wolverines was their ability to take care of the ball. G-E had just two turnovers in the second half and eight in the game.

&8220;The kids&8217; attitude and effort have been great all year and this is kind of a signature win for them,&8221; G-E head coach Dan Fredrickson said.

G-E is 2-13 in Southeast Conference play and

4-19 overall.
