Marlene Tautges, 57, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Marlene K. Tautges of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. with a scripture prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St Theodore Catholic Cemetery.

Marlene died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at St Marys Hospital in Rochester. She was 57 years old.

Marlene was born Feb. 12, 1951, in Owatonna, the daughter of Melvin and Lorraine (Brocker) Bock. She graduated from Owatonna High school in 1968 and attended North Mankato Vocational School. On Nov. 28, 1970, she was united in marriage to Larry Tautges at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato.

After their marriage they moved to St. Peter. They had been residents of Albert Lea since 1976.

Marlene was employed by Bretts in Mankato and Gustavus College in St. Peter.

After her children were born, she ran a daycare from her home for 12 years. Since then, for more than 15 years, she had been employed by ShopKo in Albert Lea.

Marlene was an active member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and the CCW, the Albert Lea American Legion Auxiliary and the Elks Club. She enjoyed crafts, ceramics and bowling. Many hours were spent reading, playing computer games and making trips to the casino. She also enjoyed travel and fishing and playing cards with family and friends.

Marlene is survived by her husband Larry of Albert Lea; children, Richard and his wife Jolynn and their children Ross and Carly Kay of Rochester and James and his wife Stacy of Sartell; brother, Michael (Jackie) Bock of Rochester; one sister, Lori (Larry) Lura of Ellendale; nieces, Stacy, Kelly and Melanie; and one nephew, Brad. Also surviving is her father-in-law, John Tautges of Gibbon.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; son Peter; sister Linda Bock; and mother-in-law Cecelia Tautges.
