Thelma Anderson, 90, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Thelma &8220;Tim&8221; E. Anderson will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before service at the church.

Thelma died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Albert Lea Medical Center, Albert Lea from complications of pneumonia. She was 90 years old.

Thelma was born in Sioux City, Iowa, on Sept. 30, 1917, the adopted daughter of

Edward A. and Greta (Omandson) Anderson. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Altar Guild, Church Choir and Senior&8217;s Club. Thelma taught school in Thompson, Clarion and Newton, Iowa before coming to Albert Lea in 1950 where she taught kindergarten, first and second grade in District 241 for 35 years.

Thelma belonged to Minnesota Teachers Association and also Iowa Teachers Association, REAM and SERAM Teachers Association of Albert Lea.

She loved traveling, reading, playing cards, entertaining, gardening and working in the yard. Thelma enjoyed being with friends and especially spoiling her pseudo grandchildren. Thelma was a very generous person.

Thelma is survived by her companion, caregiver, longtime friend and teacher, Berniece Thompson of Albert Lea; adopted family, Comer and Audrey Groe of Lake Mills, Iowa; Comer and Audrey&8217;s children: Jorun and Paul Meierding of Mankato, Amos and Marna Groe of Lake Mills, Iowa, Christma and Todd Lange of Albert Lea; nine pseudo grandchildren: Karl and Erika Meierding, Brittany, Brook, Ashley and Colby Groe, Solveig, Jens and Henrik Lange; many friends, nieces and nephews.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Greta Anderson; and adopted brother, James Earl Anderson.
