Glennville-Emmons baseball takes advantage of Mabel mistakes for win

Glenville-Emmons took advantage of Mabel-Canton mistakes and turned them into runs rather quickly Monday night in a 6-4 win in Mabel.

The Wolverines (4-1 overall, 3-0 SEC) scored five runs in the second inning on just two hits. The Cougars made three errors in the inning to gift wrap runs for Glenville-Emmons.

The Wolverines did their part to knock runners in as the team collected seven hits and two players had a multi-hit game.

Junior Zach Nelson went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI and senior Logan Hansen had two hits, including an RBI single.

&8220;They&8217;re aggressive early in the account and take advantage of good pitches,&8221; Glenville-Emmons coach Louie Toulouse said.

The Wolverines gave the ball to sophomore righthander Jon Mittag and he threw a gem.

Mittag threw a complete game, allowed three earned runs and struck out eight to improve to 4-0 on the season.

&8220;He kept the ball down and hit the corners,&8221; Toulouse said.

The lone loss for G-E came against Blooming Prairie a week ago. The Awesome Blossoms put a 21-8 hurting on the Wolverines, but G-E has responded well after the blowout loss.

&8220;We&8217;re playing good defense and getting good pitching,&8221; Toulouse said.
