Thomasa Serrano, 82, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Thomasa Catherine Serrano of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a scripture prayer service Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Thomasa died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the Albert Lea Medical Center following a brief illness with pneumonia. She was 82 years of age.

Thomasa was born Dec. 21, 1925, in Bloomington, Ill., the daughter of Felix and Mannela (Gonzales) Luna. She was united in marriage to Serafin Serrano on Feb. 3, 1948, in Albert Lea. She was an active member of St Mary&8217;s Catholic Church in Newry for many years. Thomasa made her home in Hollandale all of her life until 2007, when she moved to Albert Lea to live with her niece.

In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. Whenever anyone would visit, they would leave with a full stomach! She had a great love for her family including her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Thomasa is survived by her children, Louis (Lillian) Serrano of Albert Lea, Jan (Frank) Hernandez of Albert Lea, Tim Serrano of Albert Lea, James (Sandra) Serrano of Rosemont, David (Debbie) Serrano of Stewartville, Gary Serrano of Minneapolis, Arthur Serrano of Hollandale, and Shirley Serrano of Minneapolis. There are 20 grandchildren; 17 1/2 great-grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, son Ralph; granddaughter Gayla Hernandez; and eight brothers and sisters.
