The Albert Lea girls&8217; golf team advanced to the second day of the Section 1AAA tournament Thursday by placing eighth with team score of 380 at Cannon Golf Club in Cannon Falls.

Lakeville North leads the tournament with a 334 with Northfield following at a 342. Faribault is next with a 360, Austin carded a 365, Lakeville South had a 371, Farmington finished with a 374 and Rochester John Marshall scored a 379.

Trying to make up 46 strokes in one day doesn&8217;t seem likely for the Tigers at this point, but they will look to advance as many individuals as they can when the meet continues Tuesday.

&8220;We probably didn&8217;t play our best golf, but we played good enough to get eighth,&8221; Albert Lea coach Shawn Riebe said. &8220;We&8217;re way behind as a team and we&8217;re trying to finish strong.&8221;

Kelli Hanson led the Tigers with an 85 on the day. She is nine shots back of leader Catherine Wagner of Austin who shot a four over par 76 on the day.

&8220;Kelli&8217;s 85 puts her in decent shape,&8221; Riebe said. &8220;I hope to get Kelli another great round a state run.&8221;

The top team advances to state and the next top five individuals also move on to state.
