Darrell Duane Christianson, 70, of Albert Lea

Memorial services for Darrell Duane Christianson, 70, of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Military Honors will be accorded by the Freeborn County Veterans organizations. Private burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.

Darrell died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Albert Lea Medical Center.

Darrell Duane Chistianson was born on Jan. 24, 1938, to Donald and Mabel (Troe) Christianson in Albert Lea. He graduated from Albert Lea High School and served in the United States Army Reserve. Darrell married Darla Jensen on June 8, 1957, at Calvary Baptist Church. He worked for Larson Grocery and St. Paul Clothiers for 15 years each. He then went on to work for the Freeborn County Shopper for 24 years in advertising. Darrell was a member of Southside Businessmen Association and was currently serving as the treasurer. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge, Eagles Club and Fountain Lake Sportsmen Club. Darrell was a member of First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, shooting guns and target practice.

Survivors include his wife, Darla; sons, Deane and his wife Kay of Albert Lea, Darcey and his wife Renae of Ponca City, Okla.; daughters, Dawn and her husband Shane Dahl of Clarks Grove and Danette and her husband Daniel Diethert of Merrifield; grandchildren, Jason and Lisa Christianson and their daughter Ashlyn, Brian Christianson, Ethan Dahl and Eli Dahl.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents.
