Lila Sorenson, 94, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Lila M. Sorenson of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, and one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Sorenson died Saturday at the Thorne Crest Retirement Center. She was 94 years of age.

Lila was born Feb. 5, 1914, in Montpelier, N.D., the daughter of Louis and Marie (Anderson) Larson. She attended public school and following the death of her mother settled in Freeborn County.

On Oct. 23, 1932, she was united in marriage to Melvin E. Sorenson at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Lila was a member of the First Lutheran Church and had been a homemaker all of her life. She enjoyed cooking, canning, baking and gardening, reading and puzzles. Later in life she enjoyed playing bingo. Lila was very dedicated to her family.

Lila is survived by her children, Roger and his wife Mary Sorenson of Hawaii, Carol and her husband Jim Wendel of Albert Lea, and son in law Stanley Frondal of Albert Lea. Grandchildren, Debra (Dan) Leimbek, Bruce Frondal, Pamela (Rick) Hoverson, Steven (Lisa) Frondel, Connie (Lee) Luebke, Bradley (Susan) Wendel, Nancy (Jim) Torke, Marcy (Patrick) Estrada, Stacy (Cristi) Sorenson. Great grandchildren, Tammy Frondal, Justin Frondal, Sarah Hoverson, Zachary Hoverson, Maile Estrada, Calvin and Kaleb Estrada, Kristen Sorenson, Alan Sorenson, Nicholas Sorenson, Skyler Sorenson, Eric Wendel, David Wendel, Thomas Wendel, step great-granddaughter Kelsey Garity; and other great- grandchildren Justin Luebke, Kristin Luebke and Anthony Torke.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin, daughter Arlene Frondal, brothers Lars, Melvin, Lester, Manford and Elmer Larson, sisters Olive Christianson, Lillian Hagen and Alyda Gilbertson.
