Lodge Zare Zapadu 44 hosts district meeting

Lodge Zare Zapadu 44 hosted the District 4 meeting of Western Fraternal Life Association April 27 at the Brick Hall. Western Fraternal Life Association is the 16th largest fraternal benefit society in the United States and Canada, with 150 lodges throughout the United States. Established in 1897, the Associations proud to celebrate 111 years of fraternal and financial service. Lodge 44 is a charter member. Following the dinner, Derek Kraushaar played his flute and his mother, Michelle, sang one song with him.

Sylvia Kycek gave two humorous readings.

District 4 president, Steve Wencl of Owatonna, conducted the meeting, with 67 percent. Kim Stursa of Owatonna read the secretary&8217;s report and Marie Krikava of Glenville read the treasurer&8217;s report.

A summary of the year&8217;s activities was read by each lodge secretary.

Director Duane Jirik of New Prague addressed the gathering and brought attendees up to date on news from Western Fraternal headquarters in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Local WFLA agent, Beth Atz, of Albert Lea, also spoke about available products from Western Fraternal Life Association.

Marcella Nelson was in charge of decorating and chose &8220;Christmas in April&8221; as the theme. Santa Claus and Svaty Mikulas were there to pass out door prizes.
