Funeral services for Mabel Bertha Larson, age 90, of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kenneth Jensen will officiate. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Glenville. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service. Mabel died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Thornecrest Retirement Center.
Mabel Bertha Larson was born on Dec. 4, 1917, to August and Emma (Zarling) Mittag in London Township of Freeborn County. She married Milton Larson on Sept. 26, 1937, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Myrtle. The couple farmed north of Glenville for twenty years. After her husband quit farming, they moved to Albert Lea. Mabel was a devoted Christian and member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in both the Sunbeam Circle and the Altar Guild. She liked art and was very talented at drawing. Mabel loved sewing, crocheting and being a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Milton; sister, Milly Larson; brother, Don Mittag; several nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Arlene Schilling; brother, Harland Mittag; brothers-in-law, Marion Larson, Clarence Korsmo, James Larson, Milford Larson and Roy Schilling; sisters-in-law, Hazel Larson, Ruth Korsmo, Nellie Larson and Mae Mittag.
