As more and more political candidates for national, state and local offices step forward and declare candidacies, the Tribune would like to say thank you.

It takes courage and determination to throw your hat in the political arena. You will face plenty of questions from citizens, from media, from other politicians and you will grow as people because of it.

It seems difficult enough to get folks to vote in America. You’ve done the even greater duty of running for elective office. Whether you succeed or fail to attain office, you still deserve respect for trying. Whether it is for a senate or for a city council, it’s no easy task you’ve embarked on.
