Edith Jacobson

Edith Theone Jacobson, 85, of Northwood, Iowa, died Monday, July 28, 2008, at home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Northwood with the Rev. Daniel Hart officiating. Interment will be in the East Rake Cemetery, Rake, Iowa, on Thursday at 2 p.m. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral home, Hwy 65 S., Northwood, on Wednesday.
Edith Theone Jacobson was born Sept. 24, 1922, on a farm near Rake, Iowa to John T. and Alma (Matson) Johnson. She graduated from Mankato State College in 1967 with a bachelor of science degree cum laude. She taught in rural Minnesota for four years and 20 years at Northwood-Kensett Schools.
Edith was a member of First Lutheran Church and Deborah Circle, NEA, IPERS and VFW Auxillary.
She married Maynard Jacobson Sept. 4, 1945. He died in 2000.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
She is survived by three children, Merle (Kay Reese) Jacobson, Hilltop, Laura (Vince) Mangan, Spring Valley, and Bruce (Dawn) Jacobson, Albert Lea; two sisters; Gladys Jonson, Ferndale, Wash.; and JoAnn (Dale) Golbuff, Albert Lea; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be given to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
