Members of the International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 1041, Albert Lea, with assistance from the Albert Lea Township Fire Department, participated in the annual Fill the Boot campaign for muscular dystrophy during the Third of July Parade. Six firefighters walked the parade route and received more than $4,000 in donations. 

“That shows just how generous our community really is, especially with the given economy. A very heartfelt ‘thank you’ to all who donated!” said Bill Lehman, Albert Lea firefighter and IAFF secretary/treasurer.

The firefighters would also like to thank the banks that counted the money — Clarks Grove State Bank and City & County Employees Federal Credit Union.

The IAFF is the largest national sponsor of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
