Jean Horn

The funeral service for Jean Horn of New Richland will be 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Richland. The Rev. Paul Andree will officiate. Interment will be in St. Olaf Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland and one hour before the service at the church.
Jean died Monday, July 28, 2008, at the New Richland Care Center. She was 90 years old.
Jean was born Aug. 19, 1917, in New Richland, to John and Cora (Sunde) Romine. She grew up in New Richland and graduated from New Richland High School and continued her education at Iowa State and received a bachelor of science degree as a dietitian.
She married William Horn on April 29, 1945. Jean was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She worked as a dietitian for St. John’s Hospital, St. Paul, Glenwood Sanitarium, and as a civilian at the Army Hospital in New Orleans.
Jean and her husband built and operated the Horn Inn in 1950 until 1958. They opened Horn’s Lanes in 1959 and operated it until 1964. Jean was a active volunteer in anything that benefited New Richland and Waseca County.
Jean is survived by her daughter: Pam Goehring and husband Larry of Burnsville; two sisters-in-law: Judy Romine of Edina and Ruth Anna Munson of Angleton, Texas; several loving nieces and nephews; and many caring friends.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents; husband William in 1963; son: William Jr. in infancy; and sisters and brothers: Lois, Lois, Paul, Ruth and Jack.
