Ardis Thompson

The funeral service for Ardis Elizabeth Thompson of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before service at the church.
Ardis died on Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was 84 years old.
Ardis was born in Pickerel Lake Township, Freeborn County, on April 28, 1924, the daughter of Carl and Christina (Sorenson) Larsen. She has been a life time resident of Albert Lea. Ardis graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1942. She has been a life long active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was married to Thayne Thompson on June 23, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Parsonage. Ardis had worked at Land O’ Lakes during the war, Rilco for over three years and later working 16 years at Montgomery Wards.
Ardis enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, sewing and was a great cook. The precious time she spent with family was very important to her.
Ardis is survived by her children: Lona (Neil Humphreys) Jensen of Benson, Ariz., Julie (Les) Huffman of Rochester, Jim (Nancy) Thompson of Albert Lea, Bob (Debbie) Thompson of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Karla Jensen, Matthew (Melissa) Jensen, Tracy Huffman, Jason Thompson, Shaun (Brie) Thompson, Katie Jacobson, Kristopher Thompson, Nicole Thompson, Ryan Thompson; great-grandchildren: Autumn Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Wyatt Jacobson, Addilyn Jacobson; brother: Leroy (Dena) Larsen of Albert Lea; sister: Ella Jensen of Bemidji; nieces, nephews and cousins, loving friends, Marcella Peterson of St. Charles and Marilyn Larsen of Albert Lea.
Ardis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Elmer, Russell and Eugene; sisters: Helen, Hazel and Karla.
