Carl “LeRoy” Dahle, 87, of Kiester, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. The Rev. Dick Steffen will officiate and burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Scarville, Iowa.
Carl “LeRoy” Dahle born Sept. 15, 1920, in ‘Little Chicago’, Norway Township, Winnebago county Iowa was the only child of John W. and Mable Hanson Dahle. LeRoy passed on peacefully to his heavenly home on Aug. 22, 2008, in Albert Lea, from congestive heart failure with wife Jeanette and daughters at his side.
As a young man he was an electrician, master mechanic and farmer in Iowa and southern Minnesota.
He then met his life long love, Jeanette Thelma Haugen in Lake Mills, Iowa. LeRoy and Jeanette were united in marriage on June 28, 1942.
In 1945 he left the farming business and started Kiester Bus Service and continued serving the Kiester community schools for 38 years. He truly cherished the interactions and life experiences that he had with all the generations of children that he safely delivered to and from school and the many special events.
LeRoy was a long time member of the Kiester Volunteer Fire Department and the Red Cross First Aid Program. He served on the board of directors of the Faribault County Red Cross. He enjoyed the many people he worked with over the years and was dedicated to making his community a better place to live.
In 1960, LeRoy was a driving force in the formation of the Kiester Rescue Squad. This valued community service has been continuously active and expanded over the years. It is known today as the highly respected Kiester Ambulance Service.
LeRoy was a Sunday School Teacher and church council member of the Our Saviors Lutheran church.
After his retirement he enjoyed woodworking, photography and videography. His greatest joy was watching his family grow and mature. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
LeRoy is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jeanette, daughters Janice Buhmann and husband Ron of Boulder, Colo., and Carolyn Mueller and husband Gene of Alexandria. Grandchildren Angie Yarbrough and husband Scott of Boulder, Colo., Chris Mueller and wife Liza of Aberdeen, S.D., Nathan Mueller and Fiancée Sarah Raap of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Matthew Mueller and wife Rachel of Sioux Falls, S.D. Great grandchildren Arielle and Ethan Yarbrough, Brianna and Grace Mueller, Annika and Alisha Mueller.
LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents, infant grandson, Brian Herbert Mueller and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
