Clayton Ingvalson

Clayton L. Ingvalson, age 85 of Austin, formerly of Blooming Prairie, died at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center in Austin Thursday morning, Aug. 14, 2008. He was born May 28, 1923, to Bennett and Hilda (Nelson) Ingvalson in Udolpho Township near Blooming Prairie, where he grew up and farmed. He married Lorene J. Hagen on Nov. 13, 1948, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie where he later served on the Church Council and as sexton and board member of First Lutheran Cemetery. A member of the Farmers Union, Moose Lodge and Blooming Prairie School Board, he drove a school bus, and they liked to take bus trips, including one to Alaska. He sold seed corn also. Clayton and Lorene moved to Austin in 1998.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene, of Austin; daughters, Sandra (Lonnie) Vanek of Austin, Laurie (Robert Viner) Bremer of Oronoco; two grandsons, Benjamin and Aaron; sister, Esther Hansen of Blooming Prairie; brother-in-law, Oliver (Shar) Hagen of Spicer; sisters-in-law, Gertie Ellis of Austin; Gretchen (Forrie) Claussen of Albert Lea; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Selmer Ellis; nephew, Steve Prihoda; other relatives, Jean, Bill and Margaret Prihoda; Carlo Hansen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with the Rev. Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie and one hour prior to the service.
