Maynard C. “Smokey” Miller, 75, of Wells, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at Parkview Care Center in Wells. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Wells. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. The Rev. Paul Woolverton will officiate and burial will be in Dunbar Township Cemetery, Minnesota Lake Township, Faribault County.
Maynard C. “Smokey” Miller was born Jan. 2, 1933, the son of August and Lydia (Roesler) Miller in Waseca County. Maynard farmed his whole life in the Wells area. He enjoyed collecting tools. He was mechanical minded and assisted his neighbors with farm work. Maynard enjoyed mowing lawn on his John Deere. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Wells. He enjoyed playing cards and watching television.
He is survived by two sisters: Harriet and her husband Vernon Swenson of Wells, Dolores and her husband Ray Dahnert of Waseca; one brother: Darold and his wife Erlinda Miller of Wells; two nieces: Marlene Culbertson of Wells, Jill (John) Ledbetter of San Marcos, Texas; two nephews: Randy (Deb) Swenson of Mendota Heights, Jeffrey (Laura) Dahnert of Lawrence, Kan.; two great-nephews: Joshua (Erin) Swenson of Mendota Heights, Bill Swenson-serving in Iraq; one great-niece: Holly Swenson of Mendota Heights; one great-great niece: Kaylee Swenson of Mendota Heights.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister in infancy; one niece, Lisa Rae Dahnert; one nephew, Don Culbertson; one great-nephew, Jason Culbertson;, and one great-niece, Sarah Culbertson.
