Perhaps treat the lake with paramecium?

I understand that the Albert Lea City Council has determined not to treat Fountain Lake with copper sulfate this year due to budget constraints. When I read an article in the Orange County Register I thought of this issue. So my question is, has anyone in the Albert Lea city government considered other methods of removing the algae? I don’t know how much it would cost treating the lake with paramecium, but if equal in cost or less, it would be a better (more environmentally friendly) than copper sulfate. I Googled paramecium and found several interesting Web sites, this being one of them: http://www.ebiomedia.com/Note-Book/Intimate-Relationships-Among-the-Very-Small.html.

Interesting?

Anyway, too bad about the Fountain Lake “green.” I always enjoyed the “blue” summertime version when I was growing up there.
