Toye Flattum

Funeral services for Toye Obert Flattum, 89, of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Bromeland will officiate. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.
Toye died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Albert Lea Medical Center.
Toye Obert Flattum was born on Dec. 31, 1918, to Ole and Oliva (Brua) Flattum in Emmons. He attended Albert Lea public schools. Toye married Eunice Christianson on Sept. 15, 1948. She passed away in May of 1975. Toye remarried in 1979. Toye was employed at Wilson & Co. then Scotsman Ice Systems. He was a lifetime member of the Eagles and the Degree of Honor. Toye was also a life long member of the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing to old-time music and watching the MN Twins. 
Survivors include his two daughters, Christy (Mike Lammey) Forman of Albert Lea and Lori (Ron) Newkirk of Austin; three grandchildren, Erica Forman & Jesse Meehl of Hopkins, Jason (Shelly) Christianson of Austin, and Nathan (Becky Culbert) Christianson of Austin; four great-grandchildren, Faith, Dillin, and Jasmine Christianson and Cortney Christianson all of Austin; sister-in-laws, Darlene Flattum of Greely, Colo., and Mildred Christianson of Albert Lea; his second wife, Virginia (Mattson) Flattum; and many nieces and nephews. 
Toye was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Eunice; sisters, Jeanetta and Mavis Ebert; brothers, Kenny, Maurice and Odean Flattum; also two siblings in infancy.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
