Alvina Lenze

The memorial service for Alvina Christine (Nimz) Lenze will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Salvation Army Church, Albert Lea. Capt. James Brickson will officiate. Visitation will be be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Salvation Army, Albert Lea. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Albert Lea at a later date.
Alvina died on Sept. 8, 2008, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester. She was 75 years old.
Alvina was born May 25, 1933, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Velma and John Nimz.
In 1950, Alvina married Walter Lenze Sr. They were married for 58 years.
Alvina enjoyed many different things, like going to CB Clubs when she was younger, playing card games, camping, fishing, and watching the birds outside. She also taught a ceramics class when she was younger. Alvina enjoyed doing plastic canvas and making lots of things out of it. Alvina loved going to morning coffee with her husband and other family and friends. Alvina belonged to the Salvation Army Church since 1949 where she continued to go every Sunday that she could.
Alvina is survived by her husband of 58 years, Walter Sr.; daughter, Julie Parmenter; sons: Walter Jr. (Cindy) Lenze and John (Barb) Lenze, all of Albert Lea; brothers: Earl Nimz of St. James and Robert “Bob” (Ardus) Nimz of Albert Lea; lots of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Alvina was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; daughter, Linda Thrun; brothers, Jerry Nimz, William “Bud” Nimz, Raymond Nimz and Thomas Pachl; sister, Shirley Nimz; sons-in-law, Jerry Carlsgaard and Raymond Parmenter; and granddaughter, Rachel Lenze.
