Service of remembrance for Clare A. Mattson, 78, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., formerly of Albert Lea, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service.
Clare died July 29, 2008, in the hospital in Prescott Valley, Ariz., after a courageous battle with cancer.
Clare was born on Sept. 25, 1929, the son of Arvid and Inga Mattson in Albert Lea.
Survivors include his caring wife of five years, Marjorie Mattson; daughter, Susan and her husband Bob Duncan; son, Brian and his wife Nancy Mattson; grandchildren: Jennifer and Michael Duncan, Paige, Casey and Makayla Mattson; sister, Merlene Keeler and her husband Bill; brothers: Sven and wife Cherie, Tom and wife Melodee and Paul and wife Robin; numerous nieces and nephews; step daughters, Annette Hoffman and her husband Dale and children Trevor, Spencer, Martese and Chandler and Cheryl Lynne and children Chelsea and Braidy Allen.
Clare was preceded in death by his loving first wife of 47 years, Kathleen (Bertelson) Mattson; daughter Debra Kay in infancy; and parents, Arvid and Inga Mattson.
