Drexell Estes

Drexell Earl Estes, 85, of 1403 FIrst Ave. N., Northwood, Iowa, died Wednesday Sept. 24, 2008, at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Northwood, Iowa. 
Funeral services will be Saturday 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Northwood, with the Rev. Wendi Gillan officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Conner Colonial Chapel, Northwood, and then one hour before the service at the church. The family suggests memorials to Drexell E. Estes Memorial Fund. 
Drexell was born July 8, 1923, on the family farm rural Northwood, the son of A.W. and Stella Estes. He attended Kensett School 6. 
Drexell farmed with his father and continued to farm in the Northwood area where he also did custom farming. 
He married Bernice Low April 27, 1946, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. 
During the off season of farming he worked for Randall Transit, Northwood Elevator and other electrical companies in the Northwood area. He also worked at the Northwood Sale Barn every Thursday for many years. 
He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his grandkids and family, doing crossword puzzles, dancing, playing cards, talking about the good old days and the coffee gatherings at Sue’s Corner Post.   
He was a member of United Methodist Church, Northwood, Iowa. 
Those left to cherish memory are his wife Bernice “Sis” Estes, Northwood, Iowa; three children Linda Estes, Brooklyn, Iowa, Gary Estes, Clear Lake, Iowa, and Connie Buss and her husband Andy, Omaha, Neb.; three grandchildren: Wesley Bakken and his wife Melissa, Elkhorn, Neb., Megan Estes, Humble, Texas, and Allison Estes, Burnsville; five great-grandchildren: Rylie Bakken, Haylie Bakken, Sydney Bakken, Caleb Schlote and Elijah Latusik; one sister, Hazel King and her husband Joe, Mason City, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, John Heck and Brooke Claussen.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
