The Albert Lea Movie Gallery, 1606 E. Main St., was reportedly robbed Tuesday morning, right as the store opened for the day.

Albert Lea Police Lt. Phil Bartusek said police have a person of interest they are looking at. They hope to do some followup investigation today to come up with a definite suspect.

According to initial reports, police were looking for a black woman wearing a white and blue bandanna, a black baggy jacket and a silver and red backpack who was driving a rusty Chevy Capri. She was headed downtown.

The woman reportedly showed a small silver handgun and asked for money.

Bartusek said the woman’s face was covered with the bandanna, so police do not know for sure whether the woman was black or not.

She escaped with about $400 in cash, he said.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Austin Police Department K-9 team and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene.
