Brown understands importance of ed

If Minnesota is going to be a long-term economic powerhouse, the key will be the strength of our education system. With the philosophy in mind, Robin Brown has voted to improve education in Minnesota from top to bottom.

Robin restored past cuts to important early childhood education programs such as Head Start and Early Childhood Family Education. She also helped increase funding for all-day kindergarten, giving parents more options and better options for their children in their critically important early years.

Robin also supported strong K-12 education funding legislation for our schools and students. And despite a budget deficit, Brown worked to secure bipartisan compromise on a funding package that delivered a needed $51 per pupil increase to every Minnesota school district.

On higher education, Robin Brown helped put an end to double-digit tuition increases and made sure the budget would not be balanced on the backs of college students as it was in 2003.

Minnesota’s students are the best in the world. If we want that to continue we should support state legislators like Robin Brown who understand how important education is to the long term well being of our state.

I met Robin Brown when she was running for state representative in 2006. I had a chance to talk to her about my chief concern — education. Looking back on our conversation and having had an opportunity to look at her voting record, I know I made the right choice by voting for her then and I’ll cast my vote for her again in November. She continues to fight for adequate education funding for rural schools and knows that even in difficult economic times, it’s not OK to skimp on our kid’s education. On Nov. 4, I hope you’ll join me in supporting Robin Brown for state representative.
