Lorraine Galagan

Lorraine M. Galagan died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at her home.
Lorraine was born on Nov. 20, 1919, the fourth child of Benjamin F. and Ida B.W. (Fischer) Whipps in Ottertail County. She attended grade school at Morristown and the later grades in Faribault. Lorraine was confirmed Lutheran in Faribault. She worked as a parachute inspector during World War II. Later, Lorraine became a resident of Albert Lea in 1950 and was employed in a number of local restaurants from 1950 to 1975. She worked at the Lakeside Café for 20 years. In later years, Lorraine was a caretaker for friends and family. Lorraine served many worthy charities and political causes through the years. She loved books, mostly non-fiction and poetry, history and biographies. Lorraine could do a crossword puzzle better than anyone.
Survivors include her son Dennis Galagan and wife, Arlene, of Albert Lea; grandchildren, Diane and husband, Robert Parrot of Clarks Grove, James and wife, Maria Galagan of Alden, and Kathleen and husband, James Fitzlaff of Albert Lea; great-grandchildren, Anthony Blake, Jacob and Jordan Fitzlaff, Addison and Caitlin Galagan; great-great-grandchildren, Trent Blake and Gabrielle Blake; sisters, Evelyn Klatt of Northbranch and Bernice Chevalier of St. Paul; and many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Milo, Harvey and Melvin and sisters, Delores Chambers and Mildred Buckman.
Lorraine loved her family very much and will be truly missed by all who knew her. God bless her memory.
