Maynard Dempewolf

Funeral services for Maynard A. Dempewolf, 76, of Albert Lea will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from the Church of St. Theodore. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Freeborn County Servicemen’s Organization. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the Church.
Maynard died on Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at St. Marys Hospital after a brief illness.
Maynard Ardell Dempewolf was born on Sept. 22, 1932, in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Nathan and Mary Lucille (Gaul) Dempewolf. He attended rural school and was a farm hand on the family farm. On Feb. 17, 1952, Maynard was united in marriage to Janice Edwin in Northwood, Iowa. Maynard served his country for a short time in the Air Force. After his discharge he began working for Rilco until his retirement from Alamco having worked for 47 years. Maynard enjoyed fishing, reading and studying the Civil War, feeding and watching birds and being with his family. He was a member of the Church of St. Theodore.
Survivors include his wife, Janice, Albert Lea, Son; Mark and wife Sharon Dempewolf, Albert Lea, daughter, Diane and husband Roy Stockwell, Albert Lea. Seven grandchildren; Julie Dempewolf, Jennifer Dempewolf, Janelle Stockwell, Casey and wife Kelly Dempewolf, Jayda and husband Shannon Oakland, Jacob and wife Hillary Stockwell and Broc Dempewolf. Seven great-grandchildren; Kyler, Caleb, Nicholas, Markus, Andrea, Mallory and Claire. Sister, Ila Jean and husband Gene Loge, Albert Lea, sistersin-law; Clarice Dempewolf, Albert Lea and Dorothy Dempewolf, Denver, Colo., brother-in-law, Arden Bergland, Albert Lea and nieces and nephews.
Maynard was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
