Raymond Karge

Memorial services for Raymond Albert Karge, 83, of Albert Lea, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Glenville on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Raymond died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Raymond Albert Karge was born on July 16, 1925, to Adolph and Annie (Bolden) Karge in Albert Lea. Raymond grew up in rural Wells and went to school in Wells. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for a contractor. Raymond was united in marriage to Lois Palmer on Aug. 17, 1950, at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Albert Lea. Raymond went to work for the city of Albert Lea street department where he was a foreman, retiring in 1990. Ray enjoyed traveling across the United States and Canada. He and his wife had many adventures discovering new places and people. In his early years, Ray enjoyed riding motorcycles. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors. The opening of fishing season found him enjoying time with his friends. Later in the season he could be found pheasant and deer hunting. Ray spent many hours tapping his toes to old- time music.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; daughter, Diane (Scott) Timmerman of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Heather Timmerman of Portland, Ore., and Garrett Timmerman of Calgary Alberta, Canada; brother-in-law, Richard (Carmen) Palmer of Ablene, Kan.; sisters-in-law; Marion Randall of Eugene, Ore., Kathryn Chrs of Englewood, Fla., and Juanita Palmer of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents.
