Andrew Wright Wersal, 61, of Minnesota Lake, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at the Albert Lea Medical Center of Albert Lea, from complications of brain cancer. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Minnesota Lake. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Peace Church in Minnesota Lake and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate and burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Minnesota Lake, Faribault County.
Andrew Wersal was born Sept. 19, 1947, in New Ulm, the son of M.G. and Leoma (Wright) Wersal. On May 21, 1988, he was united in marriage to Joette Sauke in Minnesota Lake. Andrew was the owner of Wells Ford Mercury in Wells, and was currently the owner of Wells Automotive in Albert Lea. He was quick witted, and enjoyed Trivial Pursuit and other games with the family. He was an avid hunter and he worked crossword puzzles every day. He loved to be with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed every day he had.
Andrew Wersal is survived by his wife Joette Wersal of Minnesota Lake; children: Jason (Brenda) Wersal of Richmond, and Gunther Wersal of Minnesota Lake; grandchildren: Christopher, Taylor, both of Minnesota Lake, and Jacob of Richmond; brothers: Creighton Wersal (Dr. Sandra Hyde) of Mankato, Mark (Wendy) Wersal and children Mitch and Reid of Robinsdale, and Greg (Cheryl) Wersal and children Nathan and Alissa of Belle Plaine; sister: Lisa Wersal (Louis Asher) of Vadnais Heights; mother-in-law Geraldine Sauke of Albert Lea; brothers-in-law: Duane (Debra) Sauke of Rochester, Leon Sauke of New York City, N.Y., and Kent (Debbie) Sauke of Conger.
He is preceded in death by his son Jimmy Wersal; parents M.G. and Leoma, and sister Alexis.
