Cecelia Alice Young, 89, of Wells, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Parkview Care Center in Wells. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Wells.
Cecelia Alice Young was born Nov. 28, 1918, the daughter of August W. and Amelia H. (Giese) Dusza, in Waseca County. Cecelia was baptized in New Richland and confirmed in Minnesota Lake in the Catholic faith. She attended country school by Matawan and in Wells. On Nov. 8, 1937, she was united in marriage to Wilbert Young in Wells. The couple divorced in 1948. Throughout the years she worked for Frank Hayes Poultry & Eggs, Mussers, Pines Ballroom, Mallons and retired from Banquet Foods in 1981. Her interests were dancing, playing cards and bingo. She especially enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She belonged to the Wells American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son, Daniel and his wife Deann Young of Albert Lea; eight grandchildren: Kathy (Rich) Kingery of Hamburg, Iowa, Brian (Lillian) Young of Lake Mills, Iowa, Kris (Todd) Heavner of Albert Lea, Scott (Sandra) Hodge, Julie (David) Pourrier, Sandy Lopez, Llew (Barb) Hodge and Jodi (Fidel) Trujillo, all of Wells; 17 great-grandchildren: Stephanie (Derek) Dorn, Seth Niebuhr, Heidi, Hayley and Brad Heavner, Josh and Shawn Pourrier, Krystine and Bobby Hodge, Elizabeth Lopez, Tony and Jessica Trujillo, Amanda (Justin) Overlund, Angela and Gabriel Kesler, and Daniel and Jonathan Hodge; three great-great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Liberty and Caleb; one sister: Margaret (Ronald) Schoenfeldt of Mankato; one brother-in-law: Keith Ulve of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother in infancy; daughter and son-in-law: Carol and Danny Hodge; grandson Brad Young; great-granddaughters Sarah Jo Pourrier and Amy Jo Pourrier; and two sisters: Therese (Derald) Ehrich and Mary Ulve.
